It is designed to seduce you into parting with some hard earned cash in exchange for the feeling of the freedom of owning your own boat. The seduction starts with the assistance of technology, making boats like sleek mean machines that James Bond would be proud of! Think press button gizmos designed to take the thinking and muscles out of skippering such as auto helming, auto winches, radar detectors, chart plotters etc. Just crank up the stereo and you’ll be right, right?

If you have purchased any electrical item in the last ten years, you must know that they always break a day after the warranty expires, they corrode and your bills skyrocket with each new gizmo. See the connection? Your beautiful boat who you think will reward you by making you feel so important, so free, so loved, so swooned upon by your chosen ones is a clever trick. Your new love soon will rapidly corrode unless you constantly coat every surface with a protective coating. You will be reminded every time you get on that you still need to replace XYZ, coat XYZ, renew XYZ, fix XYZ, tidy XYZ, workout how to XYZ, or hire someone to XYZ. Meanwhile, you are trying to keep up the smile to swoon XYZ.

Do you know what BOAT stands for? Bung On Another Thousand!

Please read the fine print below for a candid look at the reality-

THAT FIRST DAY FEELING (Click to expand)

BUYING A BOAT

BOAT SHARE

BOAT CHARTER

No doubt about it, for all of these boat options, everything feels great on the first day. The end of the financial year is a busy time of year with deadlines and pressures but it is also a perfect time of year to reflect and inspire your team. By taking time to reward your staff for a great job done, setting goals for the new financial year you are on your way to a fabulous year ahead. Team training, team building, staff award ceremonies and networking events can be really beneficial for staff moral and this will save dollars in the long run by reducing staff turnover and creating a dynamic buoyant workplace.

Watch out for the signs of work slump
At this time of year the long working days and dedicated hard work can show in team tiredness. Pressures of seeing the final year annual reports looking good can further add pressure. Signs to look out for are people taking early marks, more sick days, nit picking, unnecessary gossip and simply generally less smiling! Be quick to nip this in the bud and get the team regenerated. For a quick zing we recommend taking your team out for the day on either a relaxing day harbour cruise or a teambuilding activity to do something different and to get to appreciate each other better.

Tune your best assets
You probably know that most businesses spend the most of their expense budget on human resources. Just like a car, your staff too will need a regular tune up to keep systems running smoothly. Why is it then that people balk at spending on team training and bonding and don’t think twice about getting an office refurbishment or car service? Those people who will take time out to reward and plan do well.

Don’t let an unspent budget get swept away
‘We found staff reward days is the best way to keep team energy and enthusiasm high throughout the year. If our department does not spend our budget allocation for the current financial year, it is cut for the next year. We pay for charter dates in advance and then juggle the dates later. Booking days in early gives our team something to look forward to so schedules team charters have become a yearly EOFY spend now.’
Margo-O’Keefe, Education Manager

Ideas for staff that need pampering and rewarding

Boat charter on a luxury super yacht
Your staff can be a VIP for a day and enjoy the finer things of life as you cruise Sydney Harbour with multi-million dollar views, VIP service, gourmet catering on state of the art boats that will get everyone ‘oohing’ and ‘ahhing’. This corporate escape ticks all the boxes for pampering and you the organiser will be smothered in thankyous! Contact us and we can show you some all inclusive food and beverage packages on one of our super yachts.

Award ceremonies
To make your award ceremony special, a boat is a really good place to host the event. Being on a boat together will make the event memorable and get out of the norm without having to leave Sydney CBD. We have over 130 boats to choose from so please call us you call us and we can suggest some vessels to best accommodate your team. We can also create some fun boat gift vouchers if you wish.

Teambuilding activities to get the best of both relaxation and group energy

Laser clay shooting
Your boat will be rigged up to accommodate a shooting range where you aim for floating clay ducks on the water. This sounds easy but it is not so simple and it will bring out the competitive streak in even the most mild-mannered person.

Casino tables
Create your own private mini casino on board a boat of your choice. You won't be playing for real money so everyone can have fun.

Sailing regattas
A sailing regatta can be held on just two sailing boats or more according to the group size. A typical event will include some basic sail training, a race and finish with team prizes and some partying to celebrate anchored at a beautiful beach.

Teambuilding is easy on a boat
Often people just love the team bonding exercise of simply being on a boat together! With over 85 boats to choose from, it’s easy to choose a boat to suit both your group and your budget. At one moment I paused to consider the awesome collaborative brainpower of those on board- a mixture of internet geniuses, data and people managers, business innovators and creative marvels. As you probably have guessed there was no lack of conversation and inspiration.

The cloudy skies that started as a threat ended up as the star of the show by creating brilliant sunset skies to set everyone photo snapping madly. The warm hues gave their stardom away to glorious sparking lights on the water, reflecting the city skyline. Many remarks were made about what a beautiful city we live in, and how easy it is to forget that just outside the city's door is one of the most beautiful harbours in the world. As a networking venue, Sydney Harbour corporate event cruise can connect people effortlessly, as they are instantly sharing not a venue, but an experience.

About Crucial

Crucial is a Sydney based company founded by local Bondi boy, Aaron Weller. At 22 years old, he founded Crucial in 2007 (do your sums). The company is now a major provider of web hosting in Sydney. We love local enterprise and innovation and take off our hats to the Crucial team who demonstrate that even in this impersonal data world you still put people first. The ‘Connect’ corporate event seminars have broken down walls to really get to know their customers and stimulating business networking. Recently I found it a surprise and a real pleasure to go into a website pop up support chat room and realise I could put a face to the name on the other side.

Breaking down the barriers can be fun and what a great way to do this out of four walls on Sydney Harbour.

CEO Ijan Kruizinga’s feedback shows he is always thinking about people first:

"It's the people that make an experience memorable and the team at Sydney Harbour Escapes made our charter one to remember. I look forward to spending more time on beautiful Sydney Harbour with them!”

Ijan Kruizinga Chief Executive Officer

 Crucial Paradigm
Read more about Crucial's start up story
About Crucial

Dreamtime Girl Corporate Boat
50' catamaran for up to 45 guests, spacious and adaptable for event cruises
Read About Dreamtime Girl

 Corporate Event Boats
View more boats suitable for corporate networking cruises
See Corporate Boats

Photo Credit: Kathy Bennett, James Bishop
8Corporate Conference Entertainment https://www.sydneyharbourescapes.com.au/blog/postid/4/business-conference-ideasCorporate Event News,Helpful TipsFri, 20 Feb 2015 05:04:45 GMT

How to Keep Your Conference Delegates Happy and Sharing on Social Media Whilst Saving on Venue Décor and Promotion in One!

It may be a daunting task to organize conference entertainment for large groups. You probably will need to work around hectic schedules, tired attendees, overseas guests expecting to be wooed and the attendee’s partners who are ready for some action as well. Hiring a corporate event boat for a section or the whole duration of the event will keep each group happy. You can choose a hop on- hop off style, where the boat is anchored at a wharf near the conference venue, specify set times for a boat to cruise Sydney Harbour or schedule in both.

Use a Moored Vessel as an Adjunct Event Space

A docked vessel can serve as a multi-functional event space. Both delegates and speakers at a conference can use the space to network, use a green room and conduct meetings or workshops. The fresh air and water views are invigorating even if you don’t go on a cruise. Spa treatments, intimate meeting spaces, Wi-Fi and digital presentation areas are all possible on many modern corporate event boats. As a networking venue, being accessible via a dock can serve to create flexibility for people to come and go as they please.

Save on Styling Costs and Use a Ready Styled Boat

Tall ships, super yachts, finished wooden classic yachts, catamarans and glass boats are popular for this purpose as they are uniquely styled. A big investment has already been made to ensure both interior and exterior of a charter boat will look great. Think of all the dollars you will save on fit out and styling of a blank venue space!

Advertise Effectively in a Highly Sought After Location with Custom Flags

Adding some custom made flags which fly as you cruise will ensure your brand is promoted in a highly sought after space- Sydney Harbour-the main view for thousands of people.

Create a Dynamic After Party Venue That Guests Will Want to Share On Social Media

When the after party is hosted at the conference venue, watch out for toes edging towards the door. No matter how hard you try, it still feels like work! If you want your event to leave a positive lasting impression, hosting a networking event on a cruising boat will tick all boxes. We have found that the attendance increases for networking events on a boat compared to a land venue. A charter boat sets attendees in a relaxed mood and everyone is feeling well cared for and they will mingle easily. They will go home boasting that they went cruising on Sydney Harbour and will share photos more readily on social media as the background is always stunning- especially at sunset.

'My visit to Sydney was made very special by our hosts who took us to see Sydney Harbour on a private boat. Being away from the bustling city and sharing some local food and wine was precious time to get to know one another. The deal was signed!'
- Andrew Wang, Beijing.
4
