Whale watching season in Sydney runs from May to November, when thousands of humpback whales migrate along the coast. Skip the crowded tour boats and watch them from your own private charter.
Public whale watching tours can pack up to 100 passengers onto a single boat, leaving you jostling for a view. With a private charter from Sydney Harbour Escapes, the boat is yours - so you and your group get the best vantage points, room to relax and unforgettable photo opportunities.
Whales migrate along Sydney's coastline between May and November. From May to August they head north to warmer waters to calve, and from mid-August to November they return south, often with playful calves in tow. June and September historically see the highest activity, and the best sightings are usually between 11am and 3pm.
Humpback whales are the most common sight, with an estimated 40,000 migrating past Sydney each year. Southern right whales and even pods of dolphins are sometimes spotted escorting boats along the way.
Our fleet ranges from intimate cruisers to spacious luxury vessels, each available with an experienced skipper who knows where the whales are running. Choose your departure wharf, bring your own food and drinks or add catering, and leave the rest to us.
